There is no account, so there is nothing to sign in to.

NeoWords has no app account and no developer-operated server holding your progress. This page says exactly what is kept, where it is kept, and the occasions when something leaves your device.

What is stored on your device

Everything you do in the app: which words you have learned, when each is due for review, your streak, your daily goal, the language you are learning and the language you read in. It lives in the app's own storage on your device. On Mac, moving the application to the Trash does not erase its stored data. Deleting a local copy also does not erase an existing iCloud copy.

iCloud backup

If you are signed into iCloud, that same progress is mirrored to your private iCloud key-value storage so your iPhone and Mac can share learning progress. It goes to your iCloud account, under your Apple ID — we cannot read it, and we hold no copy. If you are not signed into iCloud the app simply keeps everything locally and behaves the same. You can stop the backup by disabling NeoWords iCloud access in your device’s iCloud settings, where available. Disabling sync does not delete a copy already in iCloud.

Statistics

The app counts things about its own use — how many rows you finished, how often the review screen was opened, whether the paywall was seen. These are counts and dates, held on your device, and they are never transmitted. There is no identifier attached to them, no record of which words you studied, and no third-party analytics library in the app at all. You can switch the counting off entirely under You → Anonymous statistics.

What leaves your device

• Pictures and audio. The app downloads the illustrations and the spoken words from our content server at cdn.neowords.app as you reach them. Those are ordinary file requests; no account or app identifier is attached. Cloudflare necessarily processes the requesting IP address to deliver and protect the service, but we do not use it to identify or profile a learner.
• A problem report, if you send one. The flag button lets you tell us a card is wrong. The report contains the word's identifier, which of the five reasons you picked, the course language, the app's build number and whatever note you typed. Nothing else — no device identifier, no contact details, and nothing at all is sent unless you press Send. Storage expiration is set to 90 days; Cloudflare says removal normally completes within 24 hours after expiration. To ask for earlier deletion, email [email protected] with the word, approximate time and note so we can locate an otherwise unlinked report. Reports received before 6 September 2026 may also contain a randomly generated installation tag from older app versions. New reports discard that tag; older reports retain the same 90-day expiry.
• The weekly Blitz league, if you join. Game Center receives your score and shows it with your Game Center player name. Nothing is submitted before you opt in. Apple operates Game Center under Apple's privacy policy.

Speaking practice and microphone access

Speaking practice on iOS 26 and macOS 26 uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. The app asks for microphone access when you choose to start speaking practice. Your voice is processed in memory; NeoWords does not save recordings or upload your voice or transcript to us. Apple may download a language model before the feature can run. You can type an answer instead.

You can revoke microphone access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone on iPhone, or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone on Mac. The other learning exercises work without microphone access.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details; the app asks Apple’s StoreKit whether a purchase is active. Refunds, receipts and cancellation all go through your Apple ID.

Children

The app asks for no name, contact details or account and shows no advertising. A problem report is optional, unlinked, and contains only the fields listed above.
